Furnace Protection

The Saveway Furnace Protection System gives you a clear view of the furnace lining condition, the extent of fritting back and any specific areas of metal penetration, fins etc. This information permits safe furnace operating conditions while maximizing the number of heats per lining change.

The operating system is based on the principal that the electrical resistance of refractory material decreases as temperature increases. Electrode panels are placed between the furnace coil and the refractory lining, brick, rammed or crucible, allowing an electrical current to be measured as it flows from one electrode to the closest hot metal and back to the other electrode. This data is used to profile the condition of the refractory material and then continuously recorded and displayed as remaining lining thickness on the monitor.

Far superior to the standard earth leakage or chicken wire methods of detecting furnace problems the Saveway system offers real advantages in terms of operator safety, refractory maintenance and the elimination of catastrophic failure.
